Moderate Activity and Physical Fitness Are Vital for Health & Prolonging Life
Most people know that continued movement and moderate exercise are essential to good health. A broad based study in March 14, 2004 New England Journal of Medicine reports that physical fitness may be even more important to health than quitting smoking or avoiding diabetes. Men with the greatest capacity for exercise live longest and exercise capacity is the better predictor of longevity than any other single health marker. Other studies have shown that increasing one’s level of physical activity decreases the risk of death and confirm that people with hypertension, diabetes, obesity and high levels of cholesterol can significantly lower their risks by improving their physical activity and exercise regimens. If sedentary or have any medical condition - gradual increases is physical activity should be under the direction of physician.
